Whats renal failure in guinea pigs?

0

Renal failure is kidney failure. It’s the same as kidney failure in humans. Your kidneys act as a filter, removing toxins from your blood and then passing them along to your bladder, where they are excreted in urine. For humans, they can do dialysis, which is a mechanical stand in for the filtration your kidneys do. I seriously doubt that they do dialysis for guinea pigs, and if they did, the cost would be immense. So yes, I am sorry to say it, but it is, most likely, fatal. I have no idea if your pet has it, as I am not a vet. Only your vet can determine that for certain. If your guinea pig has it, I would imagine your vet will either suggest medication, or putting her to sleep. Only he or she can tell you for sure if you even need to worry about renal failure, however. Make an appointment, and get you pet checked. Good luck.
