What’s the best type of stone or gravel to use for a driveway or path?
It’s largely up to you and the look you prefer, but smaller stones are best for this purpose, for pathways around 5-10mm and for driveways around 20mm. Avoid round smooth stones, which won’t compact into a solid base. Crushed products like Crushed Tile or Decomposed Granite, which keep a firm base once compacted, are ideal. We also sell Road Base which is the perfect material to use under a decorative gravel driveway. Use a depth of at least 100mm road base and a layer of at least 50mm of your decorative gravel.
