Whats the difference between aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and why do I want aerobic bacteria digesting solids in my irrigation lake?
Aerobic bacteria digests at a rate of 19.2 times faster than anaerobic bacteria. Carbon Dioxide has no smell and has no affinity for Hydrogen Sulfides (the carrier of the bad smell). On the other hand, anaerobic bacteria break down solids into Methane gas and water. The Methane gas carries smelly hydrogen sulfides into the air.
