Japanese Jujitsu was created during war time so they mostly fought standing and involved a light striking and a lot of throws, and submissions were used as a quick finishing move and is taught to break instantly so that’s why they have flying arm bars and other quick moves to finish the opponent. They also taught to fight against weapons so it had a lot of moves to dodge, step in, and move around to fight against guy with Katana. BJJ on the other hand is a modern day martial arts where unlike Japanese Jujitsu where ground games were the last resort or was used to finish the opponent quick as soon as they were taken down, BJJ even starts off from their back and even tries to drag them into the ground. BJJ rather than evolved, they adapted to the modern day tournaments. BJJ actually being one of the worst styles to fight against multiple opponents being one of the example.
