Whats the difference between Jihad and Islamic Terrorism?
I appreciate you wanting to learn with a clean intention. Islamic terrorism is basically a set of attacks and threats by a group of Muslims who are against the West and claim they are following Islamic principles. They are fundamentalists, just as you may say the Klu Klux Klan are fundamentalists that exist in the U.S. Regardless if religion or race is the motivation, both are considered to be terrorist groups made up of fundamentalist ideologies. Jihad literally means ‘struggle’ and has several meanings. It is not the unrestricted, fundamentalist, and basically evil interpretation that you see in “Islamic terrorism.” BBC has a great and accurate presentation about the basic ideas and meanings of Jihad.
