Whats the difference between paragliding, hang gliding, parasailing, and sky diving?
Parasailing is sitting below a round parachute being towed by a boat. The boat driver controls your experience. Sky diving is freefalling from a plane, then deploying a steerable parachute to slow the decent and control the landing. Hangliders use a light metal frame with fabric stretched over it to produce an airfoil. The hang glider is foot launched and flown prone. Hang gliders use bubbles of rising air to stay aloft for hours with the potential for crossing hundreds of miles. Paragliders use a nylon airfoil suspended by many strong lines to maintain its shape. The leading edge of the cloth is open to allow air to pressurize the wing keeping it semi-rigid. The pilot flies seated in a nylon harness. Paragliders use the same air currents as hangliders to stay aloft.
