Memory foam can differ greatly in quality – density, hardness or softness, response to temperature, and also in its durability. Due to increased competition in the market, more manufacturers are now producing memory foam products. This is great for the consumer as prices have been dramatically reduced over the last few years but consumers also need to be aware that a lot of sub standard memory foam has also come onto the market. When buying a memory foam mattress, remember to check the density and thickness of the memory foam in the mattress. The density of a mattress is important. The density refers to how much memory foam there is in a square metre of mattress. The lower the density, in effect the less memory foam there actually is. A low density memory foam mattress will break down quicker than its higher density counterpart, and when a memory foam mattress begins to break down it will loose it’s shape and stop returning to its original form, meaning you will have to replace it.
