When I launch a JEDlet, a window opens, nothing appears, and then the window automatically closes. What is happening?

The JEDlet runs in a secondary window that is created when you click the link. If you use a popup manager (blocker, killer), configure it to allow jedlet.com to open windows, OR disable it.
