When I try to login, I get an error message that says “The identity certificate uses an unknown signature algorithm”. What does this mean?
This is a browser bug with Internet Explorer 4.1 and 4.5 for the Macintosh. These browsers do not support SHA1, which is the standard SSL encryption we use to secure the site. To resolve this, you must upgrade your browser to a version of Internet Explorer that is newer than 4.5 or you must use Firefox, Netscape Navigator or Netscape Communicator, which are not affected by the problem. You can upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape for the Macintosh from Stanford at http://www.stanford.edu/services/ess/mac/index.html or download Safari or Firefox.
