When I try to resize my browser window I often wind up with a smaller 3D window than what I started with. Whats going on?
This situation occurs when the browser attempts to resize the 3D window in Direct3D mode and it fails because the video card is out of memory. It occurs much more frequently on cards with 8MB of VRAM or less. If it can’t create the full sized window, the browser creates the largest window it possibly can using the remaining video memory, which can often be smaller that the window you had before. If this problem occurs frequently, try running in software mode instead (which does not have this problem since software does not use video card memory for the 3D window), or consider upgrading to a video card with 16MB or more of memory.
