When I try to startup xterm, I get the following error message: “xterm: no available ptys”… What gives?
There are three possible solutions: • Make sure that there are ptys configured into the kernel… Use ‘kconfig’ to check that NPTY is non-0 • For at least one user, copying the /usr/lib/X11/xterm*.tic files to /usr/lib/terminfo/x/xterm(s) worked… • One final possible solution is to start ‘xterm’ from ‘sh’.
