Answer Dear Larry, The OLD sales tax deduction was taken off the 1040-schedule-A many many years ago… However, 2 years ago a FORM of the sales tax exemption was put back on, but it forces you to choose to take any state withholding taxes “OR” sales tax…. As for what president, I have absolutely no idea… It would not be the presidents fault anyway, so watch who you vote into the congress and senate in D.C…..
