when will the State museum re-opens on West Virginia Day?
The museum at the cultural center near the state capitol will be open again this weekend. A renovation of the state museum was first suggested in 1997. It closed a few years later. Guests are invited for a grand opening Saturday, West Virginia Day. It will be open to the public on Sunday. With 24 thousand feet of space, the museum features a central show path and 26 separate discovery rooms. The display begins in prehistoric West Virginia and ends in modern times. It features replicas of rooms in Independence Hall in Wheeling, a coal mine and Charleston’s famed Scott Drug Store. You can even see the museum’s vast collection closet through a window.
