Where can I ADOPT a guinea pig?
First of all, if you are getting a guinea pig, pairs are the way to go. They do much better in pairs and you can start trust training much faster. I don’t know what you have against petfinder, but I won’t suggest it out of respect for you. Look for breeders. I know you said you don’t to breed them or you don’t want a specific breed (I assumed that’s what you meant), but petco and petsmart get their guinea pigs from a pet provider called Rainbow. Their animals are only used for breeding, and are not socialized before they are outsourced. I work at Petsmart, and I really shouldn’t be saying this, but this is true, and if anyone asks me about this at work, I tell the truth. Now, breeders keep records of genetic traits, temperaments, fur colors, and skin markings as well as family diseases, sicknesses, deaths, etc. That way you know all about your cavy’s family and if they had sick parents or mean parents.
