Before you can dispose of an unwanted refrigerated appliance, you must take steps to remove any refrigerant from the appliance. Do not attempt to remove refrigerant or compressors yourself. Improperly handled refrigerant may result in physical harm. There are companies that will do this for you for a fee. Once the refrigerant has been removed, the appliance can be disposed of in a landfill or taken to a metal scrap yard to recycle the metal.
