Where can I find good looking though inexpensive boxes to collect recycling in my kitchen and home office?”
Recycling isn’t very pretty, but I have found these crates invaluable and they are inexpensive – particularly when a local car runs over the crate and destroys it. Here’s a neutral one. We have a white one in our kitchen and a black one for newspapers in the garage. They’re not too heavy, so the recycling things aren’t burdensome. Also, the crates are stackable if you don’t have a lot of space. For inexpensive storage containers I usually have very good luck at the major discount stores: Target, Wal-Mart, and Kmart. They have several sizes and shapes to choose from. Check out their storage departments, as well as office supply areas, and possibly the furnishing department, too. Other options, if you have one nearby, would be The Container Store or Office Max. And, if you find a perfect size box, but don’t like the outside design, you could always buy some Contact Paper or something to cover it with.
