Where can I get Emacs and Epoch for Digital UNIX?

Both a binary and sources for GNU Emacs are included on the base system CD-ROM. Epoch is available on the Digital UNIX Freeware CD-ROM (see answer A1 for more information). Patches to make Emacs version 19.22 run on Digital UNIX can be found at ftp://ftp.digital.com/pub/GNU. The files are emacs-19.22-alpha-patch.README emacs-19.22-alpha-patch.gz but the current version of GNU emacs (any version at least as recent as 19.28) is said to build and run properly on Digital UNIX). [Pete Kaiser, kaiser@acm.org] [Rob McCool, robm@snail.ncsa.uiuc.edu] Emacs 19.28 does NOT come with support for the DEC alpha, but the patches for it are available from ftp://ftp.digital.com/pub/GNU. So you have to get emacs-19.28 and then the patch as well. Once you get the patch, it builds flawlessly. (Well, at least it did for me.) The documentation within emacs 19.28 says that hopefully in 19.29 Alpha support will be built into the standard emacs distribution. [holt@cns.caltech.
