Where Did Modern Day Pirates Come From?
The truth about piracy never really became apparent until one of the United States’ ships was hijacked. Once the Maersk Alabama was taken and Americans realized that there were certain parts of the oceans that were incredibly hostile, suddenly there was uproar that we needed to determine what the cause was and more importantly, how to get rid of them for good. To understand how to get rid of them, though, it is important to take a look into modern day piracy. Where did it come from? Why is it here? First and foremost, piracy has always been in existence. Whether it was piracy as was seen in the Pirates of the Caribbean or if it is the modern day pirates we see today, there have always been pirates.
