Where did the idea of putting hot dogs in a bun originate?
A. Bavarian concessionaire, Anton Feuchtwanger, most likely introduced the traditional hot dog on a bun during the St. Louis “Louisiana Purchase Exposition” in 1904. He loaned white gloves to his patrons to hold his piping hot sausages. When most of the gloves were not returned, he reportedly asked his brother-in-law, a baker, for help. The baker invented long, soft rolls that fit the meat.
