Lots of people are wondering what happened to the ScanDisk utility for Windows XP. If you didn’t know, ScanDisk is used to check your hard drive for errors. Quite often, ScanDisk needs to run if Windows is shut down improperly. To check your drive for errors with Windows XP: double-click My computer. Next, right-click on the disk you want to check and select “Properties” from the options menu. Now, choose the Tools menu option. There you will find the Error-checking utility. Click the “Check Now” button to begin checking your hard disk for errors. If you like to use the command prompt, the equivalent command for ScanDisk is “chkdsk”.
