Where is the 2016 Olympics going to be held?
The 2016 Olympics is going to be held at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They beat out Chicago, Tokyo, and Madrid to become the first South American city to host the Olympics. Rio de Janeiro has full support from the federal, state, and local Brazilian government, and these three levels of government have pledged to provide for free: security, medical services, customs, transport, immigration, and other governmental services and support. What made Rio de Janeiro especially appealing to the International Olympic Committee was the fact that they had experience hosting huge sporting events. These events include World Cups, World Championships, and the XV Pan American Games, where over 5,650 athletes competed in 34 sports.
