When reserving, (from out of state, over a month’s advance), I CLEARLY STATED, SEVERAL TIMES, that this would be my parent’s 50th anniversary dinner. He said he wrote it down. They didn’t wish my parents Happy Anniversary!?! Our waiter DID remember to wish Happy Birthday to the woman at the next table. Maybe they got his attention with their pink boas. Maybe the gifts on our table, wrapped in silver & gold paper, being opened by 70-ish folks, me wearing a tux with gold tie, and ADVANCE NOTICE THAT THIS WOULD BE A 50TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER…AS IN ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME SPECIAL OCCASION wasn’t obvious enough. I don’t think that common courtesy needs requesting. The server AND hostess dropped the ball on this detail. If acknowledged like ” On behalf of all of us at Varalli’s, congratulations on your 50th Anniversary”, I’d be TOTALLY raving about our experience. Pros + Food , Service, AmbienceCons – Attention to details.

We went to dinner at bistro st tropez last night (saturday) and had a great time with the food but very dissapointed with the service. Our server was a short girl with short hair. She was probably very new at serving since she knew nothing about the menu or the wine list. We wanted a bottle of red but she was so unsure that we ended up getting just 2 glasses of wine each. Our server came to our table once or twice and we felt ignored. We didnt even get her name( she might have said Nandy or something). The food saved the day. It was beautiful and tasty. Loved everything about our bass, scallops and tuna. great flavor combinations and perfectly cooked. I would definately go back for the food, not care so much about service. Pros + Food, viewCons – Bad Service

Jasper is one of my favorite restaurants because I can always try something new and everyone is so friendly there. My husband and I go to Jasper at least twice a month for their price fix menu, in fact we get the menu each week emailed to us so we can see if we want to go in for dinner. The price fix menu is such a good deal that we rarely order off of the regular menu. The price fix is $35 for five courses so my husband and I can eat a great dinner for less than a hundred dollars with the tip and still have left overs for lunch the next day. It is a BYO so we don’t have to worry about ordering wine for the different courses which keeps the price down too. We are in there so often the whole staff knows us by name. Everyone should check out Jasper!Pros + Food, Value, ParkingCons – Limited capacity

My date and I went out for the jazz duo and had dinner, drinks. It was comfortable and intimate. The server was nice and the bartender makes a great drink. The bar has neat sliding shelves. The place is small enough to be able to talk to your date and still hear the music. I had the french onion soup which wasn’t so great but the 2 dirty martinis made up for it. My date had an average caesar salad. The vocalist and guitarist were fine but I wouldn’t really go there just to hear music. It’s laid back enough to head there for drinks and food on a weeknight. Overall, I’d definitely go there again even though it was a little far south for us and ended up taking a cab ride back. If you live in the area, do stop by at L2. The bartender makes the place.Pros + great martini, small and intimate, romanticCons – okay menu selection, needs more jazz, nights with variety
