Where is the MFI ID code derived from?

0

The MFI ID code is unique to each institution listed in the List of MFIs. Each national central bank of the EU is responsible for allocating an unique MFI ID code for every MFI they report to us, resident in their territory. Concerning the convention for the MFI ID code, this has been set by the ECB in agreement with the NCBs. The convention is as follows: the MFI ID code can be alphanumerical, with the first two digits being the two-digit ISO code for the country of residence of the MFI and the remaining number of digits (no limit has been specified) can be any combination of alphanumerical characters.
