Where will the money come from to support Rockford Promise?
Rockford Promise intends to start small so is can keep its promise to students and their families. It will be through community alignment and support of Rockford Promise that additional dollars will be donated. Financial support for Rockford Promise will be obtained through grant-writing, donor solicitation, fund raisers, planned giving programs, alumni and faculty of RPS District #205, local investors and businesses. Rockford Promise will begin by offering a grant to 50 students to complete a course of study at Rock Valley Community College. Students who complete the Rockford Promise application process will be chosen on a lottery basis. Each year an additional 50 grants will be awarded. As funding for the program grows, the number of grants given will also grow. It is anticipated that when the initial group of grant recipients complete RVC, there will be a lottery among those students who wish to pursue a 4-year degree.
