Which foreign language is difficult to learn and speak?
I’ve studied several languages in my time. I’ve been studying Mandarin for a long while now, and it is not as difficult as many people think-grammatically. However, the character system is arduous. Speaking Chinese correctly, if you are a native English speaker, is very difficult because Chinese phonetics rely heavily on tones. It took me about a year to really get the flow and feel of the language down and not sound awkward and stuttery when I spoke it. There are 4 tones in the Chinese language, though relatively few sounds. The classic example is the word “ma” in Chinese: the meaning of the word changes with each different tone. So I would say that Chinese is very difficult to learn to speak correctly, but it is an amazing language and is very much worth your time. Also it is extremely useful if you are interested in international relations or business.
