Long term investment plans are best when aligned with your highest intrinsic values. For example, if your top values are 1) Family 2) Financial Security 3) Career (in that order), you would want to start your long term investing as such. Financial planning in life should always be aligned with personal values. Also, imagine that when we talk about currency, it’s not just money. Currency is what you value, money being only one of many to consider. Your “time” is another currency that you’ll never get back. And having lots of money, but working so much that you don’t get to enjoy it, or have no balance in your life isn’t fulfilling either, unless your value is only money and career (and you love your job). Then it works. Family: invest in things that will result in a healthy family lifestyle. Good spending habits, good credit and financing history, committed and discipline budget and savings plan. Invest time in things that allow you to meet people that share your interests and hobbies.
