If the provider is a member of a provider group and is providing services as a rendering provider of the group, then the group’s NPI will need to be entered on the claim as the billing provider and the rendering/individual NPI will need to be entered in the appropriate rendering provider NPI field. If the provider is providing services at a different clinic as an individual, then the individual provider’s NPI will need to be entered on the claim as the billing provider.
