Which one has more fats, French fries or potato chips?
Good question. Before looking this up – I guessed that it would be potato chips, because they have a greater surface area to weight ratio. There would be more fat absorbed by more surface area. But trying to compare them is difficult, you could compare servings – but a serving of chips is much less weight than a serving of fries – so how do you figure? I looked up 3.5 ounces of fries versus 3.5 ounces of potato chips, and this is what the USDA says: French Fries, McDonalds: 16 grams of fat per 3.5 ounces Potato Chips, any brand: 36.4 grams of fat per 3.5 ounces Wow – that is quite a difference when comparing the same weight of food. But lets look at it a different way – by serving size.
