Which one is better Backgammon or chess?
Backgammon does require some degree of skill, but it’s not a game of pure skill the way chess is. In backgammon, having a superior knowledge of dice probability, for example, will pretty much ensure that you win the majority of your games if you play enough. Anyone can luck out and win a game here or there, but over extended play, good players will beat poor players the vast majority of the time, regardless of how the dice turn up. Chess, again, is a game of pure skill…no luck or chance is really involved. Both games are fun… the one clear advantage backgammon has over chess is that it’s a much faster game (a typical game lasts about 5-7 minutes. So you can play a lot of games in a short period of time. But in terms of the skill required to be good at it, there’s no question chess is at a much higher level.
