Provided the children will be living as Americans, having the children raised Christian would be easier for them culturally speaking… there are no issues with observing religiously based holidays like Christmas. There will be no awkward questions to answer with times like Ramadan and other Muslim holidays. That said, I think the healthiest thing for kids overall are parents who love each other and maintain mutual respect and involvement in the two religions. In the end, the children will have to choose for themselves one day. Why not give them a balanced, educated view of each and emphasize the similarities? As I’m sure you know, Christianity and Islam share the same basic ethical heart of loving your neighbor, and living a peaceful, selfless, love-filled life of devotion to God. What could be healthier than establishing that core for them?
