Who Are BSI?
BSI are the oldest standards body in the world, pre-dating ISO by almost half a century. Indeed, ISO itslef (the International Organization for Standardization) was actually established through an event organized in London by by BSI (1946). The world’s first management systems quality standard was also published by BSI, in 1979. This was BS5750, which eventually became ISO9000. It alone currently publishes over 20,000 different standards and has operations in well over 100 different countries. However, in addition to publications, its different divisions offer a wide range of services, ranging from training to certification and assessment services. Its three divisions are known as BSI British Standards, BSI Management Systems and BSI Product Services.
