The current human world champion is Hideshi Tamenori, who played for the Japanese team at the 1995 World Championships in Melbourne. The top computer program in the world is Logistello, a program by Michael Buro. The construction of the program was the subject of his Ph.D. thesis research in Paderborn, Germany.
