Who designed the Ziggy Stardust stage costumes?
The majority of the Ziggy Stardust on stage costumes were designed by Freddie Burretti (real name Frederick Burrett) (aka Rudi Valentino) assisted by his girlfriend Daniella Parma along with Angela Bowie by utilising materials mainly bought from Liberty’s. Several other costumes were designed by Michael Fish aka ‘Mr. Fish’ and Natasha Kornilof. David and Angela met Freddie in 1971 at The Sombrero club in London. The 19-year-old student clothes designer/tailor was responsible for the majority of the on and off stage clothes of Ziggy Stardust. Freddie was also ‘Rudi Valentino’ who fronted the Arnold Corns project. Freddie sadly passed away on May 11th 2001 in Paris, aged 49.
