Stephen Colbert gets his head shaved for the troops by Vicki Hyman/The Star-Ledger Monday June 08, 2009, 3:31 PM Camouflage becomes Stephen Colbert. The host of “The Colbert Report” reported for duty at Camp Victory in Baghdad, where he is filming four episodes — the first full-length nonnews show filmed, edited and broadcast from a combat zone, according to the New York Times. He got in the spirit by donning a camouflage suit and got his head shaved by Gen. Raymond Odierno, who is also a guest on one of the shows. The Montclair resident is a big supporter of the troops on and off camera. He tells the Times: “The best way I can show gratitude is to do my show the best I can and make them laugh. If I tried to tailor my material to people in the Army, there’d be two things. A, that’d be patronizing. And B, I’d be wrong.” Sources: http://www.nj.com/entertainment/celeb

Stephen Colbert gets a military style haircut from General Raymond Odierno, Commander of the Multinational Corps, Iraq. Stephen Colbert, host of The Colbert Report, had his head shaved his head in an effort to support his troops during the inaugural episode of Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando. Colbert hopes to bring attention to the six year war which has been swept under the rug since the news of the recession has been the forefront of media reporting. The show was taped from Camp Victory in Baghdad on Sunday and the audience filled with troops loved it when his first guest, Gen. Ray Odierno, accepted a videotaped order from President Obama to shave Colbert’s head. The crowd went nuts when Odierno began to carry out his orders. Colbert hilariously told the troops: “It must be nice here in Iraq because I understand some of you keep coming back again and again. You’ve earned so many frequent flyer miles, you’ve earned a free ticket to Afghanistan.” Sources:
