Who here likes automatic transmissions in their sports car instead of manual transmission?
I saved for 40 years to afford the car of my dreams; a 1958 Jaguar XK140. I now own such a car with a 4 speed manual transmission. I have always preferred a manual transmission; learned to drive on a manual. And up until 6 years ago always had at least one manual tranny car in the garage. And I would kill right now for an automatic in this car. Problem is that over the last six years old age and a few rather nasty motorcycle spills in my youth have taken their toll on the old body, specifically my left knee and hip. I now have the car of my dreams and I can barely drive the damned thing unless I am doped up on 600 mg. Ibuprofen to allow me to shift without screaming out in pain. If we go for a long ride my wife has to drive. I figure we’ll need a new clutch in less than 3000 miles with her doing the shifting chores. This woman could put the clutch out of a Freightliner……………….. oh well.
