Who invent english cursive writing?
The term “Cursive” is a broad term to describe styles of writing where the letters connect, and samples of it can be seen as far back as the middle ages. Its purpose was purely for speed since there are fewer pen lifts in cursive as opposed to textura (print). And that is true btw. If someone takes time to learn cursive effectively, it is much faster, and easier on the wrist than print, but you do have to practice. It seems to me it was only with the developement of a style known as “copperplate” which is seen in the colonial times that cursive became decorative. (though there are some medeval styles that were semi cursive but still highly decorative.) Modern cursive probably derives from copperplate, and is more designed to be used with a ball point pen, which is why I feel schools do a sevear disfavor teaching students cursive with a pencil.
