Who is Barbara Boxer?
Barbara Boxer is a U.S. Senator (D) for the State of California. She was elected Senator in January 1993 after 10 years of service in the House of Representatives. She made history when in 2004; she was elected to a third term by receiving more than 6.9 million votes – the highest number for any U. S. Senate nominee in American History. She is well known for her strong advocacy in issues like families, children, consumers, women, medical research, the environment and her State of California. She Chairs the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, becoming the first woman to hold this office. Her awards are numerous ranging from Environmental Causes to Leadership Awards.
