Who is my academic advisor and what is his/her role?
Each graduate student is assigned an academic advisor from among the graduate faculty. Whenever possible, the advisor and the student will be matched according to multicultural or organizational track interests and expertise. The academic advisor is available to answer questions concerning the graduate curriculum such as possible elective courses, independent studies, or thesis/project and exam options. The academic advisor is not the same as a thesis or project advisor (although the student may choose their academic advisor to direct a thesis or project). If a student meets the academic criteria and decides to do a thesis or a final project to complete the graduate program, a thesis or final project advisor is chosen by the student at that time.
