Who is the best Brazilian player still playing in Brazil?
In the current Brazilian world cup squad, there are only two players who play for league teams in Brazil. They are Rogerio Ceni, who is the third choice goalkeeper and plays for Sao Paulo, and Ricardinho who is a midfielder playing for Corinthians. Both of them are fringe players, and neither of them is likely to play in the starting team for Brazil unless they have injury problems to other players…they may not even be on the substitutes bench! Unfortunately, these days almost all talented Brazilian players now leave Brazil to play in European leagues because the wages are much, much higher. Last year over 300 Brazilian players were signed to European teams, which means that the quality of the league teams in Brazil is much reduced. The days of players like Pele spending almost his whole career in Brazil are long gone.
