An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor that studies diseases of the eye and can help treat and diagnosis these diseases. Ophthalmologist can preform surgery on eyes and can specialize in different problems that can occur with the eye such as: retinal problems, corneal problems or even specializing in a disease all its own like glaucoma. Ophthalmologist can have optometrist working for them to help refract patients or even help with the whole clinical aspect of treatment in the practice while the ophthalmologist will do all surgeries needed.
