Who is the most interesting character in King lear by shakespeare?
The most dynamic character (character who changes the most) is the Duke of Albany. He started out at the beginning as a quiet, shy person who his wife had complete control over, essentially he was a pushover. However, by the end of the play he stands up for what he believes, he backs Lear and exploits his wife, Goneril, for the real evil person she is. He steps up to the plate and fights for righteousness and justice. Lear is also a particularly interesting character. He seems to flip flop in and out of sanity. In the very beginning of the play he creates the conflict with his very misguided question of “which of you doth love us most”. Often he speaks of nonsense, but just as often as there is nonsense some deep thought will surface. Lear appears to not understand much of what goes on around him, but he grasps emotions and can metaphorically compare his situation and emotions well to the reader.
