ORINDA — Autopsy results show that the 16-year-old boy who died after a May 23 party choked on his own vomit after consuming alcohol and a medication, according to police. Joseph Loudon was found unconscious and unresponsive at a party in Orinda where police say alcohol was being consumed by minors. He died later that night at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Walnut Creek. At a news conference Wednesday, Orinda police Chief Bill French said the combination of alcohol and the medication, papaverine, caused Loudon to vomit. French did not know what kind of alcohol or how much Loudon drank at the party, but said his blood-alcohol content was .03. He also said Loudon did not have a prescription for the medication, and that investigators are unsure whether he injected it or took it orally.
