Who needs a handbrake?
You are temporarily stopped at a traffic light. It’s dark and the bloke in front has his foot clamped on the brake and the red lights are burning into your eyeballs… ever experienced that? Well, most drivers have the habit of holding the car on the brake when waiting at a crossing. Technically, if you are stopped for more than 3 seconds you should apply the handbrake. It is not just about blinding people. Most important is if you were to be shunted from behind you would probably be jolted forward where your foot would slip from the pedal causing you to hit the vehicle in front. See Highway Code rule 114 Tail back queuing When two lanes become one (because of road works for example) signs warn drivers of the lane closure ahead, and so good pratice is to select the free lane as early as possible. However, some people zoom down the lane which is about to be closed off, and dive into the queue at the front at the last second. This aggrivates drivers who have selected the correct lane ear
