Who uses SCADA?
Typical SCADA systems automate complex industrial processes where human control is impractical. These may be processes with many complex monitoring and rapid control factors, remote unmanned sites, and settings that are dangerous to humans. Some examples include: · Petrochemical plants—SCADA systems are used for remote monitoring and control of wellheads, pipelines, terminals, and refineries to ensure a smooth production process and operational safety. · Municipal Utility operations – Municipal water authorities and electric utilities use SCADA to regulate distribution of services, manage alarm conditions, and control and monitor remote facilities. · Manufacturing— Industrial automation and robots can be controlled by SCADA systems. The system is useful for monitoring processes and regulating quality control. · Transportation—Public transportation systems and roadways can be regulated by SCADA systems. Relevant authorities use these systems to control use of resources, automate traffic
