Greg Boyd was a defensive end for the Broncos from 1980-1982. For years it was accepted that Greg Boyd wrestled in the AWA as “Rocky Mountain Thunder” (and as cited on this FAQ for years). This was even furthered by a faulty claim on the Denver Autographs website, listing Boyd as that wrestler. Only one problem: Greg “Herculoid” Boyd– who played for the Broncos– was a black guy. The wrestler named Rocky Mountain Thunder –of whom very little is know– was a big white guy. How this misconception got started is anyone’s guess. I’ll take some responsibilty for the mix-up, but the AWA used to make false claims about how all of their wrestlers hung out with NFL players or were former players themselves. Example: according to the AWA, the Nasty Boys learned all their moves from the Raiders’ Matt Millen. Since the AWA would often re-write history to serve their purpose, I have to point my suspicion towards them. Back to top • How Many Broncos are in the Hall of Fame? As of August 2008, ther
