Who will oversee casino operations in Ohio?
A seven-member Ohio Casino Control Commission will be named by Gov. Ted Strickland to license and regulate casino gambling in Ohio. The Ohio Senate will have the ability to reject Strickland’s nominees for the commission, which must include one attorney, one certified public accountant experienced in auditing and one person with a law enforcement or criminal investigation background. One member must live in one of the four counties where a casino is located, and no members may have any affiliation with any casino operator or facility. The commission may not have more than four members of the same political party, so look for a quartet of Democrats to be named by the Democratic governor. What’s the timetable?
