Mimecast uses a standard LDAP (TCP/389) or LDAP(s) (TCP/636) connection to sync data from your AD. We do this, primarily to validate recipient addresses and OU structures, but also (if required) to extract other information such as attributes for disclaimers. Mimecast typically syncs data every 12 hours.
