Why are commercially milled soaps so heavily perfumed?

A. To mask the meaty smell ! Most soap on the market is made from tallow. On the label it would be referred to as Sodium Tallowate. Soap has been made out of tallow for centuries, but this is the 21st century and we have better and more resources to make much finer soaps. Long ago a company started making soap out of palm oil and olive oil. It was a much richer, creamier soap than the typical tallow bar that was so common in the market.
