Why are fractals psychedelic?
The word psychedelic refers to something that expands the psyche, that is, the mind. It was a word developed to refer to substances that chemically expand the mind and the perception process in every one of the senses or all together, as when they influence one the other, for an integrated perception and sensation, which means, for instance, that sounds perception generate visions or forms and colors or the other way around. In that general sense, the word can be used with anything that expands the perceptions and the mind. And that can be done also by mind activities, like meditation, where you can reach new states of mind or do new mind process that enlighten you, thus expanding your understanding. Some substances generate also in the nervous system and the perception process, certain kind of forms and colors, or stimulate the system to perceive them as such; and as in nature many development process follow the system that also produces fractals, we can perceive sort of fractal image
