Why are novice drivers not also restricted from driving high horse-powered tuners and muscle cars and right hand drive imports?
Proposed policy restricting the operation of a raised vehicle to experienced drivers was introduced to address concerns raised during the consultations with respect to raised vehicle operator competence and experience. Novice drivers are currently subject to a number of operating restrictions, including being ineligible to apply for a commercial driver’s licence because the operation of these vehicles is more complex and requires experience with a regular vehicle before advancing to more difficult driving tasks. Adding restrictions for modified sport cars and right-hand drive vehicles is outside the scope of this proposal.
